Murphy's Law and the VJD method

Murphy's Law ("Anything that can go wrong will go wrong") continues to haunt Sourav. Playing in East Zone's last Deodhar Trophy game, he was out caught behind for a first ball duck. East Zone ended the tournament at the bottom of the points table.

On a side note, this was a game curtailed by bad weather conditions and it was good to see the VJD method being used instead of the D/L method to calculate the runs required to win by the chasing side. For those of you who are interested in knowing more about the VJD method, here is a link to a pdf file (from the Feb '04 Current Science journal) which explains it in detail.

How does it matter what Saurav scores anyways? Hence nothing can really go 'wrong' for him since More's pronouncement. Except maybe getting dropped from Bengal team ;-)

What happened to Deep Dasgupta yaar ! linking to a piece - relevant, i feel -

Highpoints -

1. The left-hander drew inspiration from the fact that even the likes of present captain Rahul Dravid and veteran leg-spinner Anil Kumble had been dropped in the past, but managed to make a return to top-flight cricket.

"Even players like Rahul (Dravid) and Anil (Kumble) have been left out in the past. Now its my turn to be out of the team," said the 'Prince of Kolkata'.

2. On the More controversy - "I don't want to get into what kept me out. The bottom line is I am out. And I have to strive to get back," he said.

Good signs - hope Indian cricket wins.

Cheers
