Stuck to the crease

International Cricket Council's pitch consultant Andy Atkinson will try a revolutionary technique for improving the pitch for the ICC Champions Trophy clash between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

Atkinson is going to use a commonly used builders' glue -- PVA (Poly Vinyl Acetate) -- on the pitch for extra binding of the playing rectangle.

For all those batsmen who don't move their feet too much, this is a fresh excuse to play shots with their feet rooted to the crease. It also gives some solace to the slower bowlers - not too many batsmen would be prepared to come down the track and do the shimmy. Jokes aside, I still think there is nothing wrong with having pitches that help the bowlers.
